How to Become a Photographer blog is published by Richard Hoover (AKA "Rock Photo Star"). Richard specializes in music and music merchandise photography. He has photographed over 200 artists and bands, including Switchfoot, Flyleaf, and Reliant K, among others. In doing so, he has taken approximately 50,000 snaps and used about a half dozen different cameras in the field and studio. In the field, he has shot among less than a dozen people in small coffee houses to in front of tens of thousands at outdoor music festivals.
Richard also has experience in many other types of photography and does executive and family portrait work and some weddings on a limited, exclusive basis. He is currently working on a photo book and photo exhibit of his work. Look for upcoming book on shooting concerts as well as free video tutorials, lessons and commentary.
He currently shoots Canon digital cameras - dslrs / slrs - and Canon ink jet printers and processes his photos using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
I am a slow reader, but took the time to go through your posts and felt well informed and inspired to continue my passion of photography. being inspired by nature, music, and even abstract ways of taking pictures I will take the advice on finding a niche that suites me best. keep the posts coming so i can stay informed on my path.
